How do I get a quote for repairs?

AFTER I receive your request AND inspect your instrument I will prepare a work-order that details the work to be performed and quote a price for the work-order. The prices on the work-orders are firm prices, not estimates. No unspecified work will be performed or charged. If other problems are discovered the owner will be contacted before any action is taken.

If the owner decides not to proceed with any work after reviewing the work-order, a bench fee of $30 is charged for the time to develop the quoted work-order. Additionally, the customer pays the cost of return shipping and insurance, if applicable.

Are there geographic limitations on where you do business?

We are currently only set up to do business in the US and Canada. We hope to remove this restriction in the future. In the mean time, we ask for your patience. Inquiries from other regions might help justify a change so feel free to express your interest.

What kind of warranty do you give?

New Instruments from JSO Guitarworks
Upon notice of any defect of the guitar by the original purchaser, JSO Guitarworks will repair or replace, at its option, any defective part or material. Please contact JSO Guitarworks for a return authorization before returning an instrument. The Purchaser shall assume and pay the cost of all shipping or postage and insurance charges. In the event of unexpected loss by fire, theft, or damage to your instrument while at JSO Guitarworks, our responsibility shall be limited to replacement with a new instrument of the same or most similar available style.

Warranty Limitations
You must be the original purchaser of the guitar. As such your name and address must be on file. This warranty is limited to my lifetime as a guitar maker. It ends when I quit taking orders.

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear to the instrument. Damage incurred by misuse, accident, natural cracking of wood or finishes due to age or extremes in temperature and humidity is not covered by this warranty. Sinking of finish or the fine separations that are common at the purfling lines are not considered defects, they are typical and add character to the guitar. Items that will wear out or require adjustments in normal use are not considered defects, these items include frets, fingerboards, tuning hardware, nuts, saddles, bridges, bridge pins, bridge plates, pick guards, truss rods, strings, and finish wear. Unauthorized repairs or alterations may void this warranty. Hardware not manufactured by JSO Guitarworks (ex. Pick-up systems, cases) are subject to the warranty of the original manufacturer.

Repair and modifications
A 30-day warranty applies to the specific repairs and modifications completed on an instrument during one visit to JSO Guitarworks. In a case where other repair work that is not related to the original repair becomes necessary during the 30-day period, the new repair work is not covered by the warranty from the first visit.
